Even global economic sanctions during apartheid did not work against them! Same reason why middle east is bombed - sanctions cannot work if the country has valuable mineral resources!
On the other hand,, Kenya has fruits and vegetables (agriculture),,, and tourists.. get my drift?
You are comparing apples to oranges; cats and rabbits.
Crime rate in SA is worse than in Nairobi - and far more violent. To the extent that even Kenya Govt issued a travel advisory against SA.
Investment wise, there has been no global interest in the JSE. Its not in Emerging market indices and neither is it in world indices. Of course SA is not a frontier market so even S&P doesnt bother.
Lastly, all the bautiful infrastructure was built on African blood and suffering. Exploitation and racism - similar to the slave trade and exploitation of Africans in USA that made USA the leading global economy.
My point: All that glitters.. is not gold.
Good luck in south Africa but be warned...its hell on earth down there. I know cos I lived there for a good number of years but boy oh boy!!! gun are everywhere and so is death by gun wounds. You can volunteer to work at the Johannesburg Hospital on a Friday night and see what the ER Team has to deal with mostly on weekends, then you can make your decision if you really want to go and live there.
Kenya might look like crap to some people but East West home is best.
hope you've seen what going on down South. Don't you dare go there. Those guys hunting down foreigners are terror.
